How do KIC's operate

KICs carry out a whole range of activities, covering the entire innovation chain – including training and education programmes, reinforcing the journey from research to the market, innovation projects and business incubators

The KICs work with a specific funding structure that includes:

  • KAVA’s: KIC Added Value Activities (co-funding). KAVA’s are partly or completely funded by the EIT and are KIC-activities that directly contribute to the KIC’s or EIT objectives.
  • KCA’s: KIC Complementary Activities (complementary funding). These are KIC activities that have a link with at least one KAVA and are not financed from the EIT contribution.
